Job Purpose:
The therapist hired for this position will be responsible to provide individual, family and group therapy and skills instruction to participants in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Mental Health Services programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide psychotherapy to selected individuals who have emotional, behavioral and mental health issues.
• Provide group therapy services for selected program participants to address emotional/behavioral or mental health issues with the benefit of peer support and feedback.
• Conduct assessment of program participant’s problems, strengths and needs.
• Develop treatment plan, and plans for ongoing care.
• Provide documentation that accurately reflects clinical service consistent with internal and external documentation standards.

Requirements Education/Experience Required
• Masters’ Degree or PsyD/PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work
• Must either be professionally licensed as LICSW, LMFT, LPCC or LP, or be licensed at the graduate level including LGSW, LAMFT or LPC.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Ability to work with a diverse population of individuals by using tact diplomacy and flexibility.

• 1 year experience in providing therapeutic interventions and services to children, adolescents and families, particularly with clients with hearing loss
• Licensed as a LP, LICSW, LPCC, or LMFT

Program Description VOA’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing Mental Health Services provides mental health services to deaf, deaf blind and hard of hearing students located at the various school sites within the school districts of 287, Minneapolis, St. Paul, 917, Metro Deaf School, the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf, Central Minnesota schools, Rochester/Southeast MN and throughout the community state-wide. We provide mental health information and services to parents of the students as well as out-patient mental health services to deaf, deaf blind and hard of hearing children in the community.
