As an assistant teacher at our Bridgeport II Early Learning Center you’ll be responsible for shaping the minds of children during some of their most inquisitive years, while instilling in them a dedication to life-long learning.

Bridgeport Child Development Center II offers five spacious, inviting classrooms rich with materials and activities for children ages 2-12 years old, including those with special needs. Bridgeport II also features a studio where children participate in music and fine and culinary arts.

Our teachers use the Creative Curriculum to design a learning environment that includes centers such as blocks, art, library, sand and water, music and movement, cooking and computers. Our after-school curriculum follows the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) philosophy of enhancing learning by helping children to engage in problem-solving, discovery and exploratory learning through hands-on activities.

Bridgeport II is an inclusive, family-friendly center that builds friendships among parents via monthly parent meetings and events such as a Fall Festival and Holiday Potluck Breakfast. In the community we partner with the Ounce of Prevention Fund to provide Head Start services for 3- to 5-year-olds and with Chicago Public Schools to provide State Preschool for All and Prevention Initiative Programs.

Job Summary

The Assistant Teacher Floater position will assist in creating a stimulating learning environment in the classrooms by:

Supporting an educational setting that encourages excitement for learning and preparation for kindergarten
Developing learning centers that focus on school readiness
Partnering with the teachers on best practices and creating a warm and welcoming environment
Encouraging children to engage, discover, and problem-solve
Supporting continuous collaboration with parents and families.
Requirements Education, Experience and Required Skills

•High school diploma or GED equivalency
•Two years college with six Early Childhood Education credits or CDA preferred.
•Minimum one year in of professional experience working with children in a classroom setting
•Bilingual English and Chinese language skills
