Title Child Development Director Asst
Employment Type Full Time
City Wilmette
State IL
Description Take your career to the next level at our Wilmette Child Development Center and Glenview School Age Program.

As Assistant Director at these two locations you’ll have the opportunity to nurture the hearts and minds of children from 6 weeks to 12 years, instilling in them a dedication to life-long learning. We believe children “learn by doing,” an approach that allows young minds to explore and understand the world around them.

This position provides a unique opportunity for an experienced child care professional to make an impact on two communities. It’s our goal to have centers that creates learning environments where children can flourish, and the Assistant Director plays a crucial role in fostering that atmosphere.

The Wilmette Child Development Center holds deep roots in Wilmette, where it has been a source of excellence in care and education for the area’s young children for nearly 30 years. Our families view this center as a community hub that offers opportunities for regular involvement as well as for special events. Parents are welcome visitors to the program and often stop by to share their talents and family culture. Wilmette Child Development Center regularly partners with Wilmette Theater, the Glenview Park District and the Wilmette Public Library. For our annual Health and Fitness Day event, we sponsor a family walk and on-site fitness activities.

Wilmette, like all of our centers, uses the Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum program and GOLD assessment tool. In addition, we incorporate our Healthy Lifestyles Curriculum, which includes incorporating daily movement — indoors and out — discussing making healthy food choices and maintaining healthy habits such as visiting a dentist, brushing your teeth and screening hearing and vision.

Glenview School Age, housed in Avoca West Elementary School, is closely intertwined with the community as it provides before- and after-school care for Avoca students and remains open during the school’s winter and spring breaks. The program partners with the Glenview Public Library and many businesses within the community and families are invited throughout the year to special events.

At both locations our experienced staff members customize each child’s curriculum based on their individual strength, temperament, observations and formal assessments. This approach to curriculum building is designed to foster each child’s developmental growth and encourage creative expression. We believe in a “learn by doing” approach that allows children to explore and understand the world around them.

The talented staff members at Wilmette Child Development Center and Glenview School Age Program have dedicated their careers to early childhood education and are committed to helping you to be the best Director you can be. We hope you’ll consider joining our team!
