Description Seeking a flexible and organized multi-tasker with a passion for enriching the lives of children for a full-time Food Service Worker/Cook position at our Edgewater Early Learning Center.

JOB SUMMARY

The Food Service Worker will assist with the food service program by:
◾Providing children with clean and comfortable surroundings and maintaining and sanitizing kitchen and storage areas.
◾Planning and distributing monthly menus and consulting with dietician or nurse on nutrition and special diets.
◾Preparing appetizing and nutritional meals in accordance with agency policies and state guidelines.
◾Estimating food consumption, requisitioning purchases, and maintaining adequate food and kitchen supplies.
◾Assisting in classrooms with daily activities, if needed.

Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

A minimum of 2 years professional experience working in food preparation or service.

Required Skills
◾Excellent written and verbal communication
◾Ability to work in a team
◾Ability to maintain confidential information and materials
◾Ability to stay current on developments in food handling policies and nutrition to enhance professional growth
◾Must be able to develop a professional and positive relationship with families and colleagues
◾Must be able to physically interact with children, involving both fine and gross motor skills, and lift up to 40 pounds
◾Ability to use positive approaches to help children solve problems
◾Ability to follow all safety and health guidelines in accordance with state, federal, NAEYC and One Hope United regulations
