Description Job description: Assist in manual and machine tasks in makeready, maintenance and operation of press to provide a quality product which meets customer quality and time requirements while meeting company profitability requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • Post high school graphic arts training and two years of work experience preferred.


Skills and/or Knowledge include the following:

  • Good knowledge of how to set up, troubleshooting and control feeder.
  • Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Good understanding of pre-press functions.
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  • Strong mechanical and problem solving skills.
  • Good math skills.

Responsibilities include the following.

  • Complete OJT training and continue to follow procedures.
  • Skill to read and understand job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully
  • Interact with customers as necessary to assure that customer’s needs are met in a manner which enhances company image.
  • Ability to feed sheetfeds.
  • Ability to operate the press for periods of time in the absence of the operator.
  • Review job specifications to determine the press setup according to the imposition of the run
  • Understand and maintain recovery system.
  • Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments
  • Knowledge of paper types is preferred.
  • Responsible to handle hazardous waste in a safe manner by following the safety procedures.
  • Complete all paperwork and use timekeeping system efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized area/department.
  • Be cooperative, positive and respectful with leaders, coworkers and team.
  • Ensure all safety policies are followed and hold a high regard for the safety of others.
  • Aggressively seek out opportunities for company and self-improvement.
  • Participate in 6S/Lean manufacturing initiative.
  • Understand and use TPM (total productive maintenance) and QCO (quick change over) methods.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.
