Title Accounting Staff - A/R Clerk

The Accounting Staff – A/R position handles general office duties in addition to assisting with Accounts Receivable functions.

Essential Functions
To perform Accounting Staff – Accounts Receivable Clerk position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•  Receive and resolve a majority of guest calls/disputes in an efficient and effective manner.  This will involve thorough investigation and adjusting entries if necessary

•  Balance daily credit card deposits using reports from Opera and Dollars in the Net

•  Compile the Daily Deposit Log

•  Distribute incoming hotel mail and opens and distributes the Accounting mail

•  Reconcile and submit all FIT and Internet A/R accounts

•  Review and record hotel expense checks

•  Function as back to any position in the Accounting Department as needed

•  Protect hotel’s value by keeping information confidential

•  Perform house bank audits as per the Assistant Controller

•  Assist Credit Manager month-end duties, including month-end filing

•  Any other office duties as directed by the Controller, Assistant Controller

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required for an individual to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the Accounting Staff – A/R Clerk position:

Language Ability
•  Speak effectively to present information before groups of guests, customers or associates of the hotel

Math Ability
•  Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals

Reasoning Ability
•  Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form

•  Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Computer Skills
•  Knowledge of word processing software, specifically Microsoft Word,

•  Spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Excel

•  Microsoft Outlook email software

•   Experience with Opera PMS software is preferred

Ten Key Skills
•  Ability to use a 10 key calculator by touch is preferred

Typing Skills
•  Typing skills are required

Work Environment
•  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands
•  Regularly sit

•  Frequently talk or hear

•  Occasionally stand, walk, walk up and down stairs, pick up and move file boxes

Position Status and Availability
•  Available to work a full-time, morning (8am-5pm) shift, Monday - Friday with a rare occasion to work a six (6) day work week

Education and Experience
•  Possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)

•  Two (2) years of hotel Front Desk, Reservations and or Accounting experience is required
