Summary
A Poolside Attendant serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to pool guests, compute bill and accept payment, takes orders for and serve light meals and request identification from customers when legal age is in question.

Essential Functions
To perform the Poolside Attendant position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•  Welcome and greet guests at pool; make all guests feel comfortable and let them know you’re there to personally take care of them

•  Take beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our order/sale system which relays orders to the kitchen and bar

•  Deliver beverages from kitchen and poolside bar to guests in a timely manner

•  Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment

•  Maintain clean service areas

•  Monitor and observe the dining experience of guests, ensure that the guests  are satisfied with the food and service, respond promptly and courteously to any requests

•  Prepare the pool bar bill, present check to guest, accept payment, processes credit card charges or make change (if applicable)

•  Is ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise

•  Is ready and willing to assist bus persons with clearing and resetting tables

•  Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return

•  Is available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the pool as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor

•  Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Language Ability
The individual selected for the Poolside Attendant position must demonstrate the ability to:

•  Effectively interact and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds

•  Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos

•  Write simple correspondence

•  Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other associates of the hotel

Math Ability
The individual selected for the Poolside Attendant position must demonstrate the ability to:

•  Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

•  Compute rate, ratio and percent 

Reasoning Ability
The individual selected for the Poolside Attendant position must demonstrate the ability to:

•  Ability to apply common sense in understanding directions to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

•  Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Computer Skills
The individual selected for the Poolside Attendant position must demonstrate the ability to:

•  Utilize the Micros system

Certificates and Licenses
The individual selected for the Poolside Attendant position must possess:

•  A valid Louisiana Responsible Vendors Permit or

•  The ability to attend a Responsible Vendor’s Class and  pass the test with a score of 90% or better

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of the Poolside Attendant position:

•  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

•  The position is located outdoors, on a roof top by a pool

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the Poolside Attendant position:

•  Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

•  Regularly talk or hear

•  Frequently stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

•  Occasionally walk

Position Status and Availability
The individual selected for the Poolside Attendant position must be available to work

•  A part-time, flexible (AM and PM) shift, Monday - Sunday including holidays

Education and Experience
The individual selected for the Poolside Attendant position must possess:

•  A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)

•  One (1) year of Server experience in a high volume restaurant and/or bar

•  A valid Louisiana Responsible Vendors Permit or

•  The ability and willingness to attend a Responsible Vendor’s Class and  pass the test with a score of 90% or better
