Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible for conducting biomechanics related research studies, interpreting scientific data, writing lab reports and have skills necessary to coordinate laboratory team experiments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Collect and analyzes biomechanical data as directed
  2. Collect and analyze motion analysis data as directed
  3. Assist with protocol development and review as deemed appropriate by the Supervisor
  4. Assist with abstract/manuscript preparation as deemed appropriate by the Supervisor
  5. Maintains critical laboratory equipment
  6. Performs statistical analysis of research data sets
  7. Responsible for all matters concerning cadaver tissue acquisition, documentation and disposal
  8. Maintains expertise in developing and updating current laboratory protocols and operating procedures
  9. Draft progress reports & consistently meet deadlines by setting goals and milestones for each assigned project
  10. Responsible for maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies

Requirements

EDUCATION:   

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomechanics or other related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • One year of experience in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomechanics or other related field.

KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Working knowledge of motion capture systems and data processing methods.
  2. Working knowledge of biomechanical test equipment.
  3. General knowledge in musculoskeletal anatomy.
  4. General knowledge in statistical analysis of data.
  5. Medical practices and terminology.

SKILLS:

  1. Skilled with identification of anatomical structures, joint centers and motion marker placement.
  2. Understanding of rigid body kinematics and kinetics theories, principles, practices and techniques of biomechanics
  3. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  4. Experience with hydraulic testing machines
  5. Knowledge of motion analysis data acquisition and processing

ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  2. Ability to prioritize among multiple projects.
  3. Ability to interact with research subjects, staff, and physicians.
