CompSource Mutual is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional for the position of Premium Billing Specialist. This position is responsible for performing specialized premium billing, accounting, and technical work related to the maintenance and reconciliation of policyholder premium accounts and other related insurance specific transactions.

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Pay Range: $14.43 to $17.90 per hour
Reports to: Premium Billing Supervisor
Supervisory Duties: No

Accountabilities

  • Prepares, maintains, posts, and/or adjusts premium billing records including payroll reports and final audits within assigned authority. 
  • Reviews and processes monthly or quarterly payroll reports and reviews and approves final audits through reconciliation of codes and figures for processing.
  • Responds to premium billing inquiries and assists or advises policyholders, co-workers, agents, and others concerning billing actions and other information including billing transactions, discrepancies, or changes in a courteous, friendly, and helpful manner.
  • Initiates action for disbursement of payments.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and processes daily reports concerning payments received for insurance premiums and other fiscal transactions related to policyholders accounts. 
  • Researches causes of discrepancies and takes corrective action in coordination with supervisors and/or other affected departments.
  • Prepares various reports, worksheets, statements, and other documents including monthly reports to Underwriting Administration.
  • Prepares, processes, and monitors payment plans and promissory notes to ensure monies owed are timely paid. Monitors EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer).
  • Initiates or requests policy cancellations and/or reinstatements.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Advanced education may be considered in lieu of work experience.
  • 2 years of business office or accounting experience required.
  • Experience in the maintenance, analysis and reconciliation of insurance premium billing or underwriting of insurance experience preferred.

Other Requirements

This position requires the physical ability to perform extensive repetitive motions in using a computer and the routine use of other office equipment.  Work is typically performed while sitting and does not require heavy lifting.  Must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel.
