Description GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for reviewing and interpreting transfer paperwork for request of funds leaving American Equity. Reviews documents for good order and supplies written correspondence to agents, policyholders and third parties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reviews transfer paperwork.
• Prepares written correspondence.
• Answers incoming phone calls.
• Orders surrender paperwork.
• Processes annuity change requests.
• Emails correspondence.
• Sends and reviews faxes.
• Makes outbound follow up calls.
• Reviews surrender and suitability letters.
• Works in OPUS.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None required for this position.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two or more years of related experience and/or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.


• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:

Coursework towards LOMA designations are a desire; however, not required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Specific job duties affected by these environmental conditions include others in the work area that are speaking on the phone and surrounding noises experienced in a typical call center environment.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

• Position requires ability to quickly problem solve and reason while on the phone.

• Multitasking while on the phone is necessary. Will have to review notes and documents while responding to live calls.

• Requires interaction with the immediate department as well as many other areas within the company. Requires interaction on the phone with outside companies and customers.
