Title A/R Specialist

Description General Description of Duties: Under direct supervision performs a variety of routine clerical accounting work and performs other related work as required including but not limited to Medicaid Waiver billing, State and Federal Contracts, Affirmative Enterprises, and miscellaneous revenue sources. Performs a variety of clerical accounting duties involved in the preparation, maintenance and processing of accounting records, and financial transactions. Reviews various documents including invoices, deposit slips, and other records for accuracy and consistency applying established coding and record keeping practices. Maintains accuracy of customer accounts; reconciliation of accounts to accounting software; reviews and collects outstanding customer receivables; prepares schedules for annual audit. Performs other duties as required.
Requirements Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Two (2) years of college with courses in accounting or business preferred. Two (2) years accounts receivable and billing experience required. Two (2) years of credit and collection experience strongly preferred. Intermediate to advanced computer experience utilizing Microsoft applications including Excel accounting software required. Great Plains experience and knowledge of databases preferred but not required. Experience working with individuals with disability preferred but not required. Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, with internal and external customers of Adelante. Have the ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors and co-workers.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass background/fingerprint investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Must possess a valid NM driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance. Must have own reliable transportation and agency insurable driving record. Have the ability to operate a 10 key calculator by touch and have strong data entry skills. Must have the ability to work independently and record data accurately. Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in operating a PC based computer in a windows environment. Ability to work under tight deadlines and schedules, and have strong organizational skills. Must be able to stand, walk, bend stoop, and reach above shoulders frequently.
