FULL-TIME - Licensed Nurse (LPN or RN)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under direction of the Director of Nursing, coordinates health care services for clients attending day-hab, or residential programs. Administers medication orally, nebulized, subcutaneously and intramuscularly as directed; changes all sterile dressings as required; provides routing bladder care including Foley catheter and supra-pubic catheter; maintains bowel programs; collects specimens (urine, stool or sputum) and obtains cultures; monitors administration of oxygen and the individual’s response; monitors all use of feeding tubes (gastronomy, naso-gastric or jejunostomy) for potency and signs of possible infection at the site; reports any changes in health or nutritional status; records accurate data into logs, case records, etc.; assesses clients daily during day program; writes and keeps up to date all needed nursing care/medical emergency response plans; performs weekly and monthly QA’s, in services staff on aspiration, all nursing care plans and any other medical information needed.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Licensed to practice nursing within the State of New Mexico. Maintain certification in CPR, and other appropriate intervention techniques/training/certifications as required by Agency and the State of New Mexico. Experience in health care with persons with developmental disabilities preferred. Must have the ability to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) in English, with internal and external customers of Adelante. Have the ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers. Must have the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass background/fingerprint investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Must possess a valid NM driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance. Must have own reliable transportation and agency insurable driving record. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Adelante is a drug free workplace.
